General William Kip Ward Biography
It is on June 3rd 1949 in Baltimore town, Maryland where the U.S Army General ward was born. He decided to join Morgan State University and got a B.A degree in Political science in the year 1971. While still pursuing his degree, he decided to join the (ROTG). He ended up joining the Army War college as well as the United States Command and General Staff college.
While carrying out his service to the nation, General William E. Ward went for military missions in Korea, Somalia, Israel, Bosnia, Germany and Egypt. These overseas trips that the general took cannot be takes for granted as the mission given was always accomplished.
In 2011, The Washington Defense Secretary, Leon Panetta decided to demote The United States Africa Command General William Ward on claims that he was misusing state funds by organizing Lavish travels. This led him to undergo an early retirement. In conjunction with retirement, William Kip ward was ordered by the Secretary to pay back $82,000 to the government. This implied that there was going to be a $30,000 retirement salary deficit for the early retirement.
The investigations carried out on General William E. ward showed that he used the military cars were not only used for official unauthorized purposes but also as a means of transport for his wife to visit spa and go for shopping. The report also showed that the general went to the extreme of paying for a $750 suite in Bermuda on unofficial occasion. He was also noted to have extended his trips from time to time, especially those based in the U.S. on personal reasons and this led to a significant increase in costs.
The Washington secretary demotion process was faced with a number of complications. To either demote and have him agree to retire as a three-star lieutenant general or give him a better option and allow William Kip Ward retire being a four-star Lieutenant General.
The worst thing happened when the general was temporarily dropped with a two star ranking on his name due to the delay in his investigations. Ward retired after almost 40 years of service to his nation. On the retirement day, William E Ward received a Certificate from the commander in chief as well as the Distinguished service medal. The state also decided to give the general’s wife a number of awards as a token of appreciation. Ward and his wife ended up making a number of contribution to different children foundations.
